Change Management
All businesses are dynamic and must evolve. They must react to legal or economic changes, or to put right what’s going wrong. They must be proactive in creating new opportunities, or in introducing better ways to do things. But it is not always easy to turn ideas into action and reap the rewards.
Unlike day-to-day business and operational management, projects have a beginning and an end. The beginning is a realisation that it would be better if something was changed. The end is when the business benefit is realised. Whether it involves organisational change or investment in a capital project, or both, the prospect can be intimidating. The first step is hard to take, and the journey has no guide book. Are the vision and strategy right? How much will it all cost, and will it be worth it? How will it impact day-to-day “business-as-usual”? Is the plan practical? Who will do what, and when? When will it bear fruit, and how do you keep it all on track?
Whatever their needs and goals – be it to restructure an organisation, to change what it does and how, to invest substantial capital into something new, or all of the above – Business Leaders face a difficult decision: How do they shape and run the project for the best? Do they juggle it all themselves, and risk not having enough hands? Or do they stick with what they know, and look for someone to lean on?
As a Certificated Project Manager accredited by the Association for Project Management, I have long experience of working alongside Business Leaders, assisting them to shape and manage business changes and capital projects by:
- Advising on the overall planning, control and co-ordination of projects at any or all stages from inception to operational completion and realising the benefits; or
- Taking delegated responsibility to manage any or all stages of projects, always ensuring that Business Leaders have the necessary oversight and insight to retain overall control.
