The best businesses are well-led, focused and profitable. They have satisfied customers who pay their bills happily and promptly. They have suppliers who never miss a deadline and motivated staff of high quality and integrity.

But not every Business Leader has all the skills and experience to run things smoothly all the time. Some can get a little lost and, sometimes, it helps to ‘phone a friend – or better still, to sit down together to find a way out of the woods in complete confidence.

As an accredited Associate of the Institute for Independent Business, I am required to give a certain amount of time each month to “talk business” with Business Leaders to take an objective look at their businesses, chat over future plans, concerns or the challenges they face, and assess what counselling, advice or support they need. Sometimes, all it takes is a little perspective to see the wood for the trees and fix the problems that keep them awake at night. Sometimes, they also need hands-on actions to achieve results.

At the Business Leader’s discretion, the Institute’s Business Support Programme can provide ongoing, constructive, person-to-person problem-solving and support coupled if necessary with supplementary services tailored as required to access to the broad business acumen within the Institute’s network of accredited Associates. This pool of expertise spans many business areas including Finance & Funding, Grants, Human Resources, Health & Safety, IT, Operations & Production, Sales & Marketing and Turnaround & Recovery.
